Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Magnuson Children’s Garden with a Caspar Babypants singalong

Each year, Magnuson Community Center partners with Magnuson Nature Programs, Earthcorps, and Magnuson Community Garden to host a variety of nature-oriented special events for the whole family!

CELEBRATE URBAN NATURE

Help celebrate spring by exploring and experiencing the wonderful world of nature!   Magnuson Community Center/EarthCorp’s annual spring kickoff event is a fun-filled extravaganza for the whole family!

Past events have included performances by Caspar Babybants, Recess Monkey, Johnny Bregar, and other kindie-rock stars, our “Nature Explorers Lab” full of hands-on activities, Animal Encounters’ “special spring animals” petting farm, live exotic bugs from around the world,  a nature themed carnival, and interactive booths from numerous organizations like Just Frogs Foundation, Bats Northwest, and NOAA.  Don’t miss this annual event…it’s fun, educational, and has something for everyone! MAGNUSON CHILDREN’S GARDEN FAMILY DAYS
Free children’s activities are provided at garden events each month from spring to fall, including worm bin exploration, nature art sculptures, planting and harvesting!  Favorite child-friendly gardening activities are spreading wood chips, refilling bird baths and puddling ponds, and watering plants.

URBAN FAMILY CAMPOUT

Camping in the park is a treat that only comes around once a year, and it’s fun for all ages!  The grassy areas around the Swim Beach become a lively “village” with singing and s’mores around the campfire, a nighttime bat walk, morning bird walk, and more.  Click here for more info!

SCARECROW FEST

A fabulous way to wrap up our annual summer programs!  Visit Magnuson Community Garden for a day of gardening and nature, music and celebration, such as 2011’s orchard maze with scavenger hunt,  cider pressing, kiddie tractor corral, petting farm, Children’s Garden and P-Patch tours hosted by children from Magnuson Nature Programs, harvesting for the food bank, a free family-friendly concert, and more!
